Jan. 2004, I was visiting a friend in Laurel Canyon. He mentioned a town in a park in LA: Topanga, where you could still buy acres of undeveloped land. I couldn't stop thinking about it. I called my partner and asked her if she would move. We bought land within a month and moved in July from Montreal. Since then, we built a home and raised our two girls here. I became an ayahuasca ceremony host and shaman of sorts. I've walked thousands of miles on the trails here. My sacred spots, giant oaks, Eagle and Red Rocks. My men's group. Animal augurs all the time. I love this land, the people here, the friends, families, ocean, coyotes, freaks, hippies, creekers and old timers. An acre and half was available in the center of town so I bought it with my dad. A hawk's spot in the heart of Topanga where 'new' Topanga and Old Topanga creeks and canyons converge and fall to the sea. My dad was a builder. I built this house. I'm living here. You can too.
